PlainSite is a one-of-a-kind information refinery that produces real insights for lawyers, financial professionals, and investigative journalists. Documents arrive from government agencies, federal and state courts, browser extensions, drag-and-drop uploads, the RECAP project, and our own daily operations — then leave in a more understandable form through the website, the mobile apps, our API, and AI assistants. Everything below is free to install and use.

Why it works this way.
Court records are public by law, but they are not free in practice. PACER charges by the page. State portals charge per document, or hide behind logins. With PlainSite, nobody pays for the same page twice.
Somebody might have already bought it
Every day, attorneys and journalists pay to download filings they need. That purchase is normally a dead end — the document lands in one person’s downloads folder and stays there.
