The Court has empathy for the unfortunate medical situation of the Plaintiff's husband. Nevertheless, the motion does not explain how a medical issue affecting the Plaintiff's husband interferes with the lawyers' ability to conduct discovery. Moreover, it does not explain why a medical development arising in the summer is being brought to the Court's attention in mid-October. In addition, the motion states that "[n]o party will be prejudiced as a result of the requested extensions." As phrased, that assertion may well be technically correct, as the Court is not actually a party. But the requested extension, if granted, would prejudice the Undersigned and my law clerk, because the time in which we have to evaluate and rule on summary judgment motions, Daubert motions and case-dispositive motions will be truncated.
