ENDORSED ORDER: Monic Bailey filed a FLSA action against her employer, Bang Ventures, Inc. on June 10, 2016. (Doc. # 1 ). After Defendant's initial appearance, the Court filed its FLSA Scheduling Order (Doc. # 12 ) and Order referring the case to mediation with Mark Hanley, Esq. (Doc. # 13 ). These Orders, which place the case on a "Fast Track," require Plaintiff to file answers to the Court's Interrogatories and Defendant to file a Verified Summary of Plaintiff's hours worked and wages paid to Plaintiff. The exchange of relevant information is designed to facilitate the early disposition of the case. At this juncture, Defendant has requested multiple extensions of the deadline to respond to the Complaint. The Court granted Defendant's initial request for an extension of time until August 3, 2016, (Doc. # 11 ), but denies the second request. (Doc. # 14 ). Defendant seeks to file its response to the Complaint on September 6, 2016, after the August 30, 2016, mediation, asserting: "It would be in the best interests of judicial economy and of the parties to serve a responsive pleading to the Complaint after the conclusion of mediation." (Doc. # 14 ). However, in the Court's experience, mediation conferences are most fruitful when the issues have been narrowed by the filing of relevant pleadings, such as the response to the Complaint. The Court accordingly denies the Motion, but in an abundance of fairness to Defendant, will allow Defendant to file its response to the Complaint by August 9, 2016.
