	MINUTE ENTRY for proceedings held before Magistrate Judge Diana Song Quiroga. INITIAL PRETRIAL AND SCHEDULING CONFERENCE held on 1/23/2018. Plaintiffs appeared through counsel Matthew Zarghouni. Defendant appeared through counsel Martin R. Sadler. The Court began by reviewing the procedural history of the case. The Parties agreed that all parties have been named and served, and Plaintiffs indicated they planned to remove the John Doe defendant from the case by filing an Unopposed Motion to Dismiss. The Court then reviewed the Joint Discovery / Case Management Plan and asked the Parties about their other two cases pending in the Laredo Division. The Parties confirmed that they are exploring the possibility of settling all three cases at mediation in February and wish to delay discovery until after that date. *THE PARTIES WILL FILE, BY NO LATER THAN MARCH 5, 2018, AN ADVISORY REGARDING THE RESULTS OF THE MEDIATION.*Because these cases involve properties of different sizes and with claims and issues specific to each, the Parties do not wish to consolidate the cases and feel it would be difficult to try all three to the same jury. However, they are amenable to holding a joint scheduling conference for the other two cases, and following the same pretrial deadline schedule in all cases.The Court then turned to the pretrial deadlines in the three cases, with an eye toward avoiding unnecessary expenditure until after the February mediation. Agreement was reached as to all dates. A separate Scheduling Order will follow promptly.Next week, the Court will hold a short scheduling conference in the case regarding the Cerrito Prieto property (Case No. 5:17-cv-00229), which is assigned to District Judge Garcia Marmolejo and will have slightly different procedures. At that conference, the Court will also address the case regarding the Gale Street property (Case No. 5:17-cv-00185).The Court concluded the conference by advising the parties of the Local Rules regarding discovery, settlement, continuances, and trial scheduling. All such rules are available on the Courts website. Mere agreements between the Parties to extend the deadlines in this Courts Scheduling Order are not binding on the Court and will not be granted without a showing of good cause. The Court emphasized the importance of providing the Court with prompt notification of settlement. The Court thanked the Parties for their participation today and concluded the conference.
