MINUTE ENTRY for proceedings held before Magistrate Judge Diana Song Quiroga. INITIAL PRETRIAL AND SCHEDULING CONFERENCE held on 2/1/2018. Plaintiffs appeared through counsel Matthew Zarghouni. Defendant appeared through counsel Martin R. Sadler. The Court began by referencing the prior Initial Pretrial and Scheduling Conference held in case number 5:17-cv-203 last week. The Parties acknowledged that the scheduling order as issued in that case remains valid and they do not wish to make any modifications. However, because Case No. 5:17-cv-229 is assigned to District Judge Marina Garcia Marmolejo, the scheduling order in that case will include two sets of deadlines, one of which will automatically go into effect depending on whether the Parties file any dispositive motions. In the two cases assigned to District Judge George P. Kazen (5:17-cv-185 and 5:17-cv-203), the post-dispositive motion deadlines will go into effect after a pretrial conference with the Parties. The Court then confirmed with the Parties that the prior Scheduling Order in Case No. 5:17-cv-203 will govern all three cases. At the prior conference, the Parties were provided all of the following admonishments:The Court advised the parties of the Local Rules regarding discovery, settlement, continuances, and trial scheduling. All such rules are available on the Courts website. Mere agreements between the Parties to extend the deadlines in this Courts Scheduling Order are not binding on the Court and will not be granted without a showing of good cause. The Court emphasized the importance of providing the Court with prompt notification of settlement. The Court also stressed the importance of adhering to the dispositive motion deadline, because trial deadlines will be set shortly thereafter. Telephonic Appearances: Attorney: Matthew M. Zarghouni f/PLAINTIFFS; Attorney: Martin R. Sadler f/DEFENDANT. (11:41 - 11:50) (ERO: Sylvia BD969C5) (SMcGuire, 5, filed 2/1/2018.)
