ORDER denying 38 Plaintiff's Motion for Leave to File a Sealed Document. Specifically, plaintiff seeks to file the Second Amended Complaint, which the Court granted leave to file this date, sealed. However, plaintiff does not explain the need for such extraordinary measures, in contravention of the public's right to open records of this Court. There are certain statutory identifiers that must be redacted, such as the names of juveniles, all except the last four numbers of social security numbers, addresses, phone numbers and the like. However, to seal an entire complaint is rarely, if ever, allowed. The Court would suggest that the plaintiff send to the Court's proposed document email, with a copy to defendants, a proposed version of the Second Amended Complaint with the redactions proposed by the plaintiff along with an unredacted version. If acceptable to the Court, the Court will file and seal the unredacted version and file the redacted version unsealed. Of course, the defendants will have an opportunity, no more than 7 days, to file objections in the record, sealed, as to any matters redacted or not redacted in the proposal..
