   AIOtsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. filed this Hatch-Waxman patent infringement case in March 2007 in the District of New Jersey against Sandoz Inc. and a series of generic drug manufacturers including Teva Pharmaceuticals, Barr Laboratories, Apotex, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Synthon, and others who had filed Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDAs) seeking to market generic versions of aripiprazole, the active ingredient in Abilify, Otsuka's blockbuster antipsychotic medication. The litigation consolidated multiple related cases involving different generic filers who challenged the patents covering Abilify before Judge Mary Little Cooper. The case terminated in November 2010 following successful resolution of the patent disputes. Post-termination proceedings including appellate matters continued through 2015 based on the notice of appearance filings.

   AIHarden Manufacturing Corporation and a vast array of co-plaintiffs — including health insurers, union health funds, individual patients, Blue Cross and Blue Shield entities, Aetna, Kaiser Foundation, and many others — filed this massive coordinated pharmaceutical litigation in May 2004 in the District of Massachusetts against Pfizer Inc., Parke-Davis, and Warner-Lambert arising from the fraudulent marketing of Neurontin (gabapentin). The plaintiffs alleged that Pfizer and its predecessors promoted Neurontin for numerous off-label indications for which it lacked FDA approval and for which there was no credible evidence of efficacy, including bipolar disorder, pain, and migraine prevention, through payments to physicians and publication of ghost-written medical articles. The case consolidated both consumer class claims and third-party payor claims, as health insurers sought to recover billions of dollars in reimbursements they made for off-label Neurontin prescriptions. The litigation involved RICO claims, common law fraud, and state consumer protection theories. Sandoz and Teva were also named as generic manufacturers. Pfizer eventually paid approximately $430 million to resolve related government investigations, and this civil litigation continued for years after.
